Itinerary

Day 1 ARRIVAL IN LIMA

Arrival at Jorge Chávez, Lima international airport.

Welcome by our local English-speaking staff.

Transfer to your hotel located in the residential and shopping district of Miraflores overlooking the Pacific ocean (1 hour).

Overnight at your hotel in Lima. 

Day 2 LIMA CITY TOUR, FLIGHT TO CUSCO, TRANSFER TO THE SACRED VALLEY

Morning

Start your city tour with a drive around the upmarket district of Miraflores, famous for its 'Malecon' (the strand) and Larcomar, the huge iconic shopping center overlooking the ocean.

You will then drive past the Huaca Pucllana archeological site on your way to visit the historical center of the capital (30 min).

The city founded in 1535 by the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro, still features many invaluable colonial buildings along the main square (the Plaza Mayor) and the nearby streets.

Discover Lima's Cathedral, the Government Palace and the San Francisco Convent among many other impressive colonial buildings.

Afternoon

In the afternoon, transfer to Lima airport (30 min) for your direct flight to Cusco (1 hour 20 min).

Meet and greet with your local guide and transfer to your hotel in the Sacred Valley (1 hour 30 min).

Day 3 MARAS SALT PONDS AND MORAY AGRICULTURAL TERRACES, OLLANTAYTAMBO FORTERESS

Morning

Transfer to the site of Maras (30 min).

Walk between the hundreds of salt ponds used to dry the salt according to a method inherited from pre-inca times.

The many colors of the polygonal ponds can go from light reddish to brownish to white according to the season. This contrasts with the surrounding landscape and give the site a most-unusual aspect.

Free time to shop pink salt collected by the local community workers.

Transfer to Moray archeological site (30 min).

Walk around and down those impressive circular agricultural terraces that were used to conduct scientific experiments in Inca times (30 min).

Afternoon

Drive to the town Ollantaytambo (1 hour 15 min).

This afternoon, you will visit the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, a fortified city built by the Inca Pachacutec.

Explore this quaint settlement with an orthogonal layout (30 min).

Climb the Temple Hill known as the fortress to learn about the purpose of those inca constructions (1 hour 30 min).

Transfer to your hotel in the Sacred Valley (45 min).

Day 4 MACHU PICCHU TOUR

Your passport is required to enter the Machu Picchu site. You have the option to get a 'Machu Picchu' stamp in your passport if you wish. 

Morning

Today might be THE day you have been expecting since you landed on Peruvian soil as you will finally discover the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu.

Transfer to Ollantaytambo train station (30 min).

Board the comfortable train that will take you to Aguas Calientes, the nearest town to Machu Picchu (1 hour 30 min).

In Aguas Calientes, walk from the train to the bus station (5 min) and hop on a bus to the entrance of the archaeological site.

Afternoon

Enjoy the impressive 20-minute drive up the hill to the Machu Picchu site at 7,972 feet (2430 m). Rediscovered in 1911 by the American archaeologist Hiram Bingham, Macchu Picchu is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Learn about every secret this ancient Inca citadel holds and grab every opportunity to take photographs (3 to 4 hours).

Take the bus back to Aguas Calientes (20 min) and board the train back to Ollantaytambo (1 hour 30 min).

Transfer to your hotel in Cusco (1 hour 30 min).

Day 5 HALF-DAY CUSCO CITY AND RUINS TOUR, FREE AFTERNOON

Morning

In the morning, you will meet your guide for a city tour of Cusco including the visit of the Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral and the Korikancha, the original Temple of the Sun.

Drive to the hills of Cusco to explore the archaeological sites of Sacsayhuamán, Q’enqo, PukaPukara and Tambomachay.

Transfer back to your hotel or to the city centre (20 min).

Afternoon

Afternoon at leisure to explore the Spanish colonial city known to the Inca as the 'belly button of the world'.

Stroll around numerous plazas, shops selling incredible art and crafts or visit the great Pre-Columbian Museum MAP (not included).

Evening

Free evening and overnight at your hotel in Cusco.

Day 6 TRAIN TO PUNO AND LAKE TITICACA

The Titicaca Train runs on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

It includes one welcome drink, a three-course gourmet lunch, live traditional music and dances, Pisco Sour demonstration and afternoon tea

Morning

Transfer to Cusco train station (10 minutes).

Departure by train to Puno.

The Titicaca train offers an unforgettable journey linking the magical cities of Cusco and Puno. You will spend a full day crossing the Peruvian Andes between the shores of the Imperial City of the Incas and the mystical Lake Titicaca in an unparalleled experience featuring top-notch service.

Afternoon

You will get involved with the Peruvian culture through Andean artists and typical dances of Puno and Cusco live. 

Arrival at Puno train station in the late afternoon and transfer to your hotel in Puno (10-20 minutes).

Evening

Free evening and overnight in Puno.

Day 7 LAKE TITICACA: UROS AND TAQUILE ISLANDS

Morning

Transfer to the pier (10 min) to board a shared motor boat.

Today will be spent sailing Lake Titicaca and discovering two of its islands.

With its 214 cubic miles (893 cubic km) of water and an altitude of 12,507 feet (3812 metres), Lake Titicaca is the largest lake in South America and the highest navigable lake in the world.

According to Incan mythology, Lake Titicaca is the birthplace of the sun, moon, stars, and first human beings. Many myths and legends still inhabitate those majestic dark-blue waters.

A 20-minute ride will take you to one of the many floating islands called Uros.

The Uro floating islands are built from the totora reed that grows very well in the shallows of the lake.

You will be welcomed by a local family that will showcase the versatility of the totora, used to build their houses, boats, crafts and as a source of food.

After a short visit of the main Uro island you will sail to Taquile island (1 hour).

Afternoon

Discover Taquile island, famous for its knitting and weaving.

You will learn about the numerous traditions of the local Taquilenos who still live off the island's ressources working in their traditional clothes on the many man-made terraces.

Enjoy some free time to browse the high-quality handicrafts that are unique to the island and cannot be found anywhere else in Peru. The textile art is actually listed as a 'Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity' by the UNESCO.

End of the afternoon, sail back to Puno (1 hour 30 min).

Transfer from the pier to your hotel (10 min).

Day 8 TRANSFER TO BOLIVIA, SUN ISLAND, COPACABANA

Don't forget your passport and visa (if necessary) as you will cross the border into Bolivia.

Morning

Transfer to Kasani and assistance to cross the border to Bolivia.

Upon arrival at the Kasani border, our Bolivian team will welcome you and assist with border procedures.

Entering Bolivian territory, you'll travel 9.2 km to the town of Copacabana, the Pearl of Lake Titicaca. Here, you'll visit the Colonial Church of Copacabana, established in 1614.

Afternoon

After a brief stroll through the colorful streets, depart for the mystical Isla del Sol by private motorboat.

Journey begins at the Pilkokaina Temple (resting place of the birds). Here, hike along the paths, visit the fountain of youth on the way reliving Inca mythology and history nestled in the Andes. 

Transfer to your hotel in Copacabana.

Day 9 TIWANAKU, TRANSFER TO LA PAZ

Morning

After breakfast, departure from Copacabana to Tiwanaku Archaeological Site, crossing the Tiquina Strait by boat and continued the journey, approximately 3.5 hours until reached the ruins declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The expedition of the history of Tiwanaku begins, almost 2000 years that will revive visiting magnificent ruins. Tiwanaku is one of the most important precursors of the Inca Empire.

Afternoon

Visit the pre-colombian archeological museum and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Tiwanaku (3 hours).

Wander around the Akapana pyramid, the Kalasasaya Temple and the Puerta del Sol (Gateway of the Sun) and its impressive monoliths. Make your way down to the Semi-Subterranean Temple with many tenon heads ornating its walls.

Continue the way to your hotel in La Paz (2 hours).

Day 10 FLIGHT TO UYUNI, TRAIN CEMENTERY, LAGOONS, SILOLI DESERT

Morning

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Uyuni (1 hour).

Arrival in Uyuni and embark on a 3-day adventure from Uyuni, starting with a visit to the train cementery and San Cristobal town. Travel in a private 4x4 vehicle to the Turquiri Lagoon, known for its dark waters and endemic black ducks.

Afternoon

Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst stunning landscapes featuring unique rock formations and Yareta plants. Explore the Altoandinas jewels, home to breathtaking lagoons like Cañapa, Hedionda, and Chiarkota, showcasing Bolivia's natural beauty. Cross the "Paseo del León" canyon and head to the Siloli Desert for an overnight stay.

Day 11 Eduardo Avaroa Reserve: Green and Red Lagoons

Morning

After breakfast, depart for the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve (REA) in Southern Lípez. Stunning landscapes, deserts, and colorful lagoons. Expedition begins with a drive through the Siloli Desert, known for its unique geological formations like the Stone Tree sculpted by erosion. Then visit the geysers Sol de Mañana.

Explore the Polques hot springs in the Salar de Chalviri region for a relaxing open-air bath before heading to the Dalí Desert, with rock formations reminiscent of the artist's work.

Afternoon

Reach Laguna Verde, known for its fluorescent appearance due to high magnesium content.

Afterward, visit the multicolored Laguna Colorada (Red Lagoon), a habitat for protected flamingos, with the striking backdrop of the Ollagüe Volcano. A stop at the Ollagüe volcano viewpoint. To finalize, head to San Pedro de Quemez for hotel check-in.

Day 12 Uyuni Salt Flat, Incahuasi Island

Note: Incahuasi Island may not be accessible during the wet season.

Morning

After breakfast, visit the burned town, a remnant of the Pacific War with Chile. Then, headed to the Cueva de las Galaxias, a cave at 3670 meters altitude, offering a lunar-like adventure.

Afternoon

Drive to the Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt desert at over 12,000 km², crossing its vast expanse, enjoying a picnic lunch amidst its pure landscapes. Visit  Incahuasi Island, a spectacular island adorned with giant cacti over 8 meters tall, offering breathtaking views and cultural significance.

Finally, we arrived at one of the world's most exotic hotels, entirely made of salt.

Day 13 FLIGHT TO LA PAZ, CITY TOUR, MOON VALLEY

Morning

After breakfast, depart to the Uyuni airport for your flight to La Paz.

Embark on La Paz exploration starting at Plaza Murillo, home to the Presidential Palace, Legislative Palace, and the stunning Cathedral. Then, the Witches' Market, also visit the historic San Francisco Church, built in 1547 by Aymara indigenous slaves.

Afternoon

Embark on a tour to the Valley of the Moon, just 5 km from downtown La Paz. Experience the striking transition from the bustling city to the rural landscapes as approach this mystical valley. Named by astronaut Neil Armstrong during his 1969 visit.

Transfer back to La Paz.
