Cruise Description
Journey through southern Chile on board the M/V Skorpios II, and embark on a cruise that takes you as far south as Glaciar San Rafael in the Northern Patagonian Ice Field.
Beginning and ending in the Lakes District capital of Puerto Montt, some 1000 km south of Santiago, this 6-day itinerary includes 5 days at sea and covers 1300 km as you journey through vast archipelagos and meandering channels.
Visit Quemchi, a sleepy town on the eastern shores of Chiloé Island, where you'll see its rustic stilt homes and browse the stalls of a handicraft market.
Explore the quaint fishing village of Puerto Aguirre, where fishermen first settled here in 1940, and make your way along an austral forest path to a lookout of the islet dotted waters below.
Visit one of Chile's largest bird colonies on an excursion to Islote Barrientos, a rocky islet inhabited by kelp gulls, rock shags, red-legged cormorants, and imperial shags.
Then reach Glaciar San Rafael, one of the most exciting glaciers to watch because of its constant calving. Stretching for about 120 km and reaching up to 60 m in height, Glaciar San Rafael is accessible only by water.
Relax in the hot springs of Quitralco Bay, and observe blue and humpback whales while crossing the Gulf of Corcovado.
Disembark at Islote Conejos, a destination on this itinerary favored for its biodiversity, and see Magellanic penguins, herons, sea lions, and Chilean dolphins at play.
