The energetic capital of Buenos Aires serves as your entry point into Argentina, where music radiates from its streets and dancers move expertly to the rhythm of tango. Travel by domestic flight to Bariloche, a town along the pristine shorelines of Lago Nahuel Huapi. Characterized by glassy alpine lakes and ringed by soaring peaks, Bariloche enjoys a spectacular setting unlike nowhere else on Earth. Here, you’ll experience the region by car and by cruise. Make your way to the Chilean Lake District and stop in Puerto Varas for a German-inspired experience, as you enjoy traditional tea time and admire the town’s colonial architecture. On your way to the Chilean capital of Santiago, the final stop on this itinerary, stop by Puerto Montt, the commercial hub of the Lakes District. Itinerary

Day 1 ARRIVAL IN BUENOS AIRES, CITY TOUR

Morning

Arrival at the Ezeiza-Buenos Aires International Airport.

Meet and greet with your private English-speaking guide.

Transfer to your hotel in the city centre (45 min). 

Afternoon

Discover the historical center on a guided walking tour that will take you through the emblematic Plaza de Mayo, where you will stop for pictures in front of la Casa Rosada, the pink Presidential Palace.

Drive to San Telmo. A neighborhood much loved by local artists and dancers, this is the city's oldest neighborhood with its many busy cafes, tango parlors, and antique shops lining the cobblestone colonial streets.

Take time to tango around the colorful 'El Caminito' street museum, which was once a home to Italian immigrants.

And to finish the tour, we will visit Puerto Madero, which is a pioneer project for the rehabilitation of the old docks of the city that emerged in the 90s. In an ultra-modern world, but remaining loyal to its maritime merchant past, restaurants, bars, and luxury buildings blend together.

Day 2 MORNING TOUR IN TIGRE, FREE AFTERNOON, TANGO SHOW DINNER

Morning

Morning transfer to the peaceful town of Tigre (1 hour). Named after the jaguars, this town is locally known as 'Tigres'.

Board your delta cruise (40 min) and explore the naturally-formed canals.

During this popular day trip, you will learn how life on the rural islands works and sail among abandoned ships and stilted houses. Transfer back to Buenos Aires (1 hour).

Afternoon

Transfer back to Buenos Aires (1 hour).

Rest of the afternoon is free to enjoy at your own leisure.

Evening

At about 8pm, transfer to a traditional café where you will spend the evening (10 min).

Dinner at a 100-year-old tango institution in the capital, followed by a 1h30 tango-show.

At about 11pm, transfer to your hotel (10 min).

Day 3 FLIGHT TO SAN CARLOS DE BARILOCHE, CIRCUITO CHICO

Morning

Morning transfer to the Buenos Aires domestic airport (30 min) and assistance with check-in.

Direct flight to Bariloche (2 hours 25 min).

Arrival in San Carlos de Bariloche, a town on the shore of the Nahuel Huapi Lake located only a few miles from the Chilean border. 

Afternoon

Half day tour dedicated to travel the Circuito Chico (the Shorter Trail), the most famous route in the Bariloche region. 

Arrival at Playa Bonita, a lovely beach on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi with stunning views of the nearby Huemul Island. Not far from the beach, you will find chairlifts going up Campanario hill. With an elevation of 3500-foot (1050 m), the lookout at the top is acclaimed as one of the top 10 views in the world.

Drive to the Llao Llao Peninsula and visit the San Eduardo Chapel designed by the same architect responsible for the Llao Llao Hotel, whose picture is on the best-selling postcard from Bariloche. 

From there, drive to lake Moreno and cross the bridge of Arroyo la Angostura that connects the east and west regions of the lake.

Day 4 VICTORIA ISLAND, ARRAYANES FOREST

Morning

Transfer to Puerto Pañuelo (30 min). 

In Puerto Pañuelo, board your cruise and sail off the imposing Llao Llao Peninsula. Visit the Quetrihue peninsula, covered by the Bosque de Arrayanes, a forest located in the northeast of Lake Nahuel Huapi.

Easy hike in the Arrayan forest among ancient myrtle trees, where some of these trees are more than 500 years old (30 min). 

Afternoon

Wander back in time as you travel the paths to the Playa del Toro (2 hours). 

Sail back to Bariloche (2 hours) and transfer back to your hotel.

Day 5 ANDEAN LAKES CROSSING CRUISE: BARILOCHE TO PUERTO VARAS

The boarding fee cannot be purchased in advance; therefore, it is required that passengers pay immediately before boarding. This fee is payable only in Argentine Pesos ARS. The crossing includes a stop to visit the Petrohué Falls, where the entrance fee cannot be included. 

Morning

Embark on the Cruce Andino, the mythical route through Patagonian Andean Lakes which unites Argentina with Chile through a path that was once traversed more than four centuries ago by the native Huilliches and Mapuches. Leaving a mark that speaks of the legends of the place and of a past that has been reborn through this trip, our journey gives us the opportunity to live a unique moment surrounded by admirable landscapes.

Departure from Bariloche to Puerto Pañuelo by bus.

At 10am, board Gran Victoria Catamaran in Puerto Pañuelo and sail the Nahuel Huapi lake (1 hour 10 min).

Arrival in Puerto Blest and continue our bus trip to Peulla with a beautiful view of the Andes mountain range.

Afternoon

In the afternoon we will reach the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park in Peulla.

You will then board the boat bound for Petrohué, sailing the Todos los Santos lake.

We continue our bus trip to Puerto Varas bordering Lake Llanquihue.

Arrival at 8pm in Puerto Varas.

Day 6 PUERTO VARAS WALKING CITY TOUR, NAVIGATION TO LAKE LLANQUIHUE

Morning

Pick up at your hotel to start your visit of the city of Puerto Varas.

The best way to see the city of Puerto Varas is to walk from one end to another in order to observe its unmistakable German inspired architecture, modern residential developments, and beautiful gardens.
One of the highlights in this tour is the colorful and impressive Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, which was founded in 1853 by German and Swiss settlers who came to populate southern Chile. At the main centre, its streets and boulevards are adorned with roses as well as the comings and goings of people who enjoy their snack bars, teahouses, and restaurants.

Two natural viewing points are the hills Calvario and Phillipi, from where you can enjoy an amazing view of the city and its surroundings, get a notion of the incredible size of the Llanquihue Lake and the evergreen landscape. Heading towards the streets of downtown, we will discover historical treasures declared cultural heritage. The Kuschel and Niklitschek Houses are just one of the few places that keeps the real essence of the German culture of the early XX century.

Afternoon

We will then sail the crystal waters of the Llanquihue Lake as we traverse its beautiful places, admiring the Bay of Puerto Varas that can only be seen in its entire splendor aboard a comfortable and cozy boat.
We will dive deep in the history of Puerto Varas as we enjoy a traditional German tea time, a wonderful and unforgettable experience.

Day 7 LLANQUIHUE CITY, FRUTILLAR

Morning

First visit the city of Llanquihue, famous for its cecinas and the place of origin of the Maullín River, a part of the old Route of the Settlers. Aftewards, we will skirt through the Llanquihue Lake to reach Frutillar. This city is a beautiful town reminiscent of Bavaria, where its first settlers come from. It emerged in 1856 as a loading dock, soon showing tanneries, mills, breweries, etc. Walk around its beautiful old German-style houses, admiring its well-kept gardens and its incomparable view of the Osorno and Puntiagudo volcanoes.

Afternoon

You will have the option to access to the German Colonial Museum that shows the life of the settlers, and in its Costanera we will see the Teatro del Lago where the famous "Musical Weeks of Frutillar" are held annually with a worldwide audience. From here, we will go to Puerto Octay, also located on the north bank of the lake, marked by the German influence and first port out of agricultural products to Osorno. We will visit its old streets and Plaza. Return to Puerto Varas.

Day 8 ANGELMÓ, FLIGHT FROM PUERTO MONTT TO SANTIAGO

Morning

Transfer from Puerto Varas to Puerto Montt.

On the way, we will pass the sector of Angelmó, famous in Chile for its large number of craft shops and of course, the Fishermen's Cove – a market where you will discover the daily activity of seafarers who arrive to this place bringing the traditional seafood and fish to be sold in the market.  Enjoy the regional cuisine where the typical dishes rich in tradition and ingredients  that characterize our area are sold.

After this visit, we continue on our journey and transfer to Puerto Montt airport.

Day 9 SANTIAGO CITY TOUR, FREE AFTERNOON

Morning

Start your tour with the hill of Santa Lucía, where the city of Santiago de Chile was founded. Continue to the Plaza de la Constitución in order to cross La Moneda Palace (government palace), to then reach the Plaza del Libertador Bernardo O ’Higgins. On the same avenue, you will discover the Errazuriz palace, as well as Ariztía and Irarrázaval, displaying the city's architectural heritage. We will end the visit by ascending the hill of San Cristobal in order to have a panoramic view above the capital.
