Buenos Aires Cycling Tour: History & Culture
Explore the historic neighborhoods of the Argentinean capital by bike and pedal your way through the Plaza de Mayo, the historic center, Puerto Madero, el Caminito, La Boca and San Telmo
After meeting on Avenue Hipólito Yrigoyen you will cycle towards the city center, with a stop at La Manzana de las Luces, where some of the oldest buildings in the capital testify of the country’s rich history of culture, politics and education.
At the emblematic Plaza de Mayo, learn about some of the most important events in the history of the Republic, from the founding of the city in the colonial era up till now.
Your tour will then take you to Puerto Madero, where millions have been invested to turn this long-abandoned area of Buenos Aires into the city’s most sought-after neighborhood and one of the most expensive real estate in Latin-America.
From there head towards the Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur along the River Plate, where you will enjoy a hot ‘mate’ (Argentina’s traditional hot drink) together with some alfajores (Argentina’s famous cookie sandwich).
After this light snack you will cycle to La Boca with a stop at the Lezama Park, a place that conjures up many interesting stories.
Afternoon
Leave your bikes to walk around El Caminito, this picturesque and colorful part of the city with its quaint little streets and brightly painted houses.
Another short ride will take you to la Bombonera, the world-famous soccer stadium and on the way back from La Boca, you will go through the beautiful bohemian neighborhood of San Telmo, one of the oldest barrios in the city with its antiques shops and the Plaza Dorrego, a real Porteño square.
Your cycling tour will conclude once you loop back to the starting point (5 hours).
