The Sugarloaf Mountain hike begins at the Cláudio Coutinho pathway and after 20 minutes of the trek, we reach a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the entrance of Guanabara Bay and the city of Niterói. From there, we will start a more technical hike, alternating a trek through various sections of land, stone ramps, and some beautiful viewpoints. The most vertical section of the tour is approximately 20 meters high and is considered basic level climbing. All of the required safety equipment is included in your tour. After overcoming the small section of climbing up the mountain, we will resume the technical hike until we reach the viewpoint of the Philosopher’s Stone. From this outlook, you will have a magnificent view of Copacabana Beach, Pedra da Gávea, and Dois Irmãos. Moving on with our hike takes us to the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain. The way down is made by the Sugarloaf cable car, which takes us to Morro da Urca.
The hike and climb on Sugarloaf Mountain is an unforgettable adventure and a great opportunity for those who have never climbed before to be introduced to this sport in a remarkable way. It does not require much previous experience or excessive physical exertion, and the descent is made by riding the most famous cable car in the world, the Sugarloaf cable car.
