Tour Description

Explore the world’s largest tropical wetland on this four-day Rio Mutum Eco Lodge tour to North Pantanal. Meet and greet your guide at Cuiaba Airport, where you’ll be transferred to the Rio Mutum Eco Lodge. In your downtime, enjoy a dip in the outdoor pool or a relaxing soak in the hot tub. Join your expert guide on a leisurely nature walk to the depths of the forests, and learn about the birds, reptiles, and plants that inhabit this region. Sail on the crystalline waters of the Rio Mutum and keep your eyes peeled for giant otters and stingrays. Then join a nighttime safari, and see if you can spot the beady eyes and spiny tail of a caiman from your Jeep or boat. Go on a horseback riding excursion to a traditional farm on the edges of the stunning Siá Mariana Bay, and then see the sunset over its calm blue waters. Complete your journey with an enchanting sunrise canoe ride and transfer to Cuiaba Airport for your onward journey.

Itinerary

Day 2 ECOLOGICAL WALK, BOAT EXCURSION, NIGHT JEEP OR BOAT SIGHTSEEING

Morning

After breakfast, embark on an ecological walk of approximately 3 hours to explore the fruits of nature as you wander through woods, forests, and open fields in search of birds, mammals, reptiles, plants, and other integral aspects of the Pantanal ecosystem. 

Return for lunch.

Afternoon

In the afternoon, sail onto the waters of the Mutum River on a boat (3 hours). During this trip over transparent waters and through winding river ways, one can observe giant otters (Pteronura brasiliensis), sting rays (lymma Taeniura), and shoals of small fish. As you wander on the river, you will be able to marvel at the several species of birds whose natural habitat is an area of vegetation on the bank of the river.

Return to the lodge for dinner.

Evening

After your dinner, wander in the night by jeep or boat for nocturnal sightseeing (2 hours) as you explore the mysterious surroundings in search of nocturnal creature in the serene contemplation of the wetland environment.

Day 3 HORSEBACK RIDING, TYPICAL FARM, BOAT RIDE, PIRANHA FISHING

Morning

After breakfast, enjoy traditional horseback riding (approximately 3 hours) up a to typical farm on the border of the Siá Mariana Bay. The path that you will roam is excellent for observing the local flora and fauna throughout the year, where you will surely be surprised by the prevalent diversity of species.

Afternoon

In the afternoon, descend down the waters of the Mutum river on a fascinating boat ride to reach the Siá Mariana bay (8 km extension in the North / South direction). During this tour we will explore the banks of the bay and the channel connecting both the Siá Mariana and Chacororé bays. During this excursion, many different species of birds, reptiles, and other animals can be observed (during the rainy season, the Chacororé bay exceeds 15 km in length).
Stop to bask in the light of the sunset and fish for piranhas.
On the way back to the lodge, enjoy a night of sightseeing in search of nocturnal animals.

Day 4 SUNRISE TOUR, DEPARTURE

Morning

Sunrise Tour: (Very!) Early morning paddling in canoes (1 hour and 30 min) to appreciate the enchantment of the awakening of nature in the Pantanal.
Return to the lodge for a breakfast, followed by checkout from the lodge to drive back to the Cuiabá airport.
Transfer to Cuiaba airport at 7 am or 11 am.
