Itinerary

Day 1 ARRIVAL IN LIMA

Arrival at Jorge Chávez, Lima international airport.

Welcome by our local English-speaking staff.

Transfer to your hotel located in the bohemian district of Barranco, the hub for artists and top Peruvian cuisine, a stone's throw away from the Pacific coast (1 hour).

Day 2 LIMA: FOOD TOUR IN BARRANCO, FLIGHT TO CUSCO

Morning

Meet with your tour guide and start exploring the colorful streets of Barranco, the famous bohemian neighborhood of Lima, home to many art galleries and much-loved restaurants. With guidance from your kind local hosts you will taste and sample more than 16 Peruvian dishes and drinks and learn how to prepare two iconic Peruvian recipes: the world-famous ceviche and the very unique pisco sour. Learn about all the historical and cultural details behind each dish that you will have the chance to taste during this 4-hour walking food tour of Barranco.

Afternoon

In the afternoon, transfer to Lima airport (45 min to 1 hour). Assistance for check-in, direct flight to Cusco (1 hour 15 min). Arrival in Cusco (11,152 ft - 3400 m) where you will be welcomed by your local guide and transferred to your hotel.

Evening

Dinner at Calle del Medio restaurant, located right on Cusco's main square: La Plaza de Armas. You will taste revisited Peruvian Creole dishes in this modern restaurant/bar.

Day 3 SACRED VALLEY TOUR: PISAC, AMARU COMMUNITY

Morning

In the morning, drive from Cuzco to the village of Pisac (1 hour), famous for its Sunday market where many indigenous Quechua communities meet to sell and trade their goods. The rest of the week, the whole place is bustling with a large handicraft and souvenir market. You will have time to search for jewellery, ponchos, hats, traditional music instruments, ceramics, alpaca products and many other typical Andean crafts (1 hour 30 min).

Transfer the nearby Amaru community where you will be welcome with Andean music and beautiful flowers from the Sacred Valley before making an offering to the Earth mother, the Pachamama. You will spend some time looking for local flowers and leaves that are used to make natural dyes and learn about the traditional art of weaving. The friendly community will show you the whole process of fabric making from spinning, dying and weaving alpaca wool. A lunch will be served where you will be able to taste traditional Andean ingredients that are now an integral part of Peruvian fine cuisine.

Afternoon

Transfer to your hotel in the Urubamba Valley also known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas (1 hour 30 min).

Rest of the afternoon at leisure to relax and enjoy the beautiful gardens of your hotel.

Evening

Overnight at your hotel in the Sacred Valley.

Day 4 MARAS SALT PONDS, MORAY AGRICULTURAL TERRACES, LUNCH AND SHOW AT HACIENDA HUAYOCCARI

Morning

Visit the incredible site of Maras and tread carefully between the hundreds of salt ponds used to dry the salt according to a method inherited from pre-Inca times. The many colors of the polygonal ponds can vary from light reddish to brownish to white according to the season. This contrasts with the surrounding landscape and give the site a most-unusual aspect. Free time to shop pink salt collected by the local community workers. Transfer to Moray archeological site and discover those impressive circular terraces that were used to conduct scientific and agricultural experiments during Inca times (30 min).

Afternoon

Lunch at the Hacienda Huayoccari where you will learn about local agriculture and enjoy a short display of Peruvian Paso Horses.

Rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Evening

Free evening.

Day 5 MACHU PICCHU TOUR, FIRST CLASS TRAIN EXPERIENCE

Your passport is required to enter the Machu Picchu site. You have the option to get a 'Machu Picchu' stamp in your passport if you wish.

Morning

Today might be THE day you have been expecting from the moment you landed on Peruvian soil as you will finally enter the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu.

Transfer from your hotel to the train station of Ollantaytambo where you will board the Inca Rail's First Class for a comfortable experience on your journey from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, the closest town to Machu Picchu. A gourmet lunch will be served as the incredible scenery of the Sacred Valley rolls before your eyes. The menu celebrates Andean organic ingredients ​like trout, quinoa, aguaymanto together with a fine selection of wines. The train features a luxurious Observatory-Lounge car​riage​ offering live music, bar and a balcony ​to admire the most incredible scenery along the way.

 

Afternoon

In Aguas Calientes you will be taken to the shuttle bus service to the entrance of the citadel. Enjoy the impressive 20-minute drive up the hill to the Machu Picchu site at 7,972 feet (2430 m). The abandoned stronghold was rediscovered in 1911 by the American archaeologist Hiram Bingham, Macchu Picchu is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Learn about every secret this ancient Inca citadel holds and grab every opportunity to take amazing photographs.

Late in the afternoon ride the bus back to Aguas Calientes (20 min) and board your first class train back to Ollantaytambo (1 hour 30 min).

Evening

A gournet dinner will be served en route as you enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and the music of the Urubamba valley.

Day 6 COOKING CLASS, HALF-DAY CUSCO CITY AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL TOUR

Morning

Join a one-of-a-kind experience at Marcelo Batata's restaurant. The cooking class designed by Chef Marcelo Batata consists of 6 culinary workshops that cover the essential knowledge and techniques necessary to master the art of Peruvian cooking. An enjoyable gastronomic experience, both creative and fun that will give you the opportunity to wear the toque of a Peruvian chef for a day. After successfully completing the 6 workshops, you will be rewarded by a refreshing Pisco Sour and a delicious Lomo Saltado.

Afternoon

In the afternoon, you will meet your guide for a city tour of Cusco including the visit of the Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral and the Korikancha, the original Temple of the Sun. Drive to the hills of Cusco to explore the archaeological site of Sacsayhuamán.

Transfer back to your hotel or to the city centre (20 min).

Evening

Dinner inside the 'Cube' of the MAP Café, one of the top gastronomic restaurant in Cusco. 

Free evening to discover Cusco's vibrant nightlife. We recommend the lively pisco bar La Republica del Pisco.

Day 7 'BEAN TO BAR' CHOCOLATE WORKSHOP, FLIGHT TO LIMA, DINNER AT ASTRID Y GASTON

Morning

This morning you will start with a sweet experience on your 'bean to bar' workshop at Cusco's Choco Museo. After a short introduction about the whole process of chocolate-making, from the growing of the cacao bean to the dark and sweet delicacy we all crave for, the chocolatier will guide you through your hands on experience. Learn how to make your own treats using dark or dairy chocolate with a combination of flavors and of course sample every bit you can before taking home your own production.

You will have lunch at KION restaurant, a refined 'chifa' where you will taste Chinese-Peruvian cuisine. 

Afternoon

In the afternoon, transfer to Cusco airport for your flight to Lima (1 hour 15 min). Transfer to your hotel in Barranco.

Evening

Gastronomic dinner with wine pairing at Astrid y Gastón, ranked among The World's 50 Best Restaurants.

Day 8 MORNING AT LEISURE, AMAZONIAN LUNCH, DEPARTURE

At the indicated time, transfer back to the airport for your international flight (45 min to 1 hour).
