Tour Description

Eco-savvy Uakari Lodge enjoys a secluded location along the mighty Amazon River one hour west of Manaus by plane and offers its guests the exclusive opportunity to explore the Mamirauá Reserve - the world's largest protected flooded forest at 11000 km².

This 5 day Amazon tour introduces you to the natural highlights of the region as you embark on a night-time safari and identify the different nocturnal species that roam the rainforest at night, try your hand at piranha fishing, and go on guided hikes through the lush forests.

Run by 8 local communities, the Uakari Lodge is dedicated to practicing environmental sustainability. Boasting 5 floating lodges in the middle of a tributary, these rustic accommodations are outfitted with porches and hammocks that overlook the water.

During the wet season between April and August, you'll traverse the flooded forests by canoe.

During the dry season between September and March, you'll hike in small groups beneath the towering canopies of Brazil nut and palm trees that carpet the forest.

Interact with dedicated researchers to learn about the conservation programs in place that help preserve the Amazon and its delicate ecosystems, and with your knowledgeable guide, discover the region through a cultural standpoint by visiting a riverside village in the Mamirauá Reserve.
